Abstract/Sommario: Un film documentario che ripercorre la storia dei Doors, e in particolare quella di Jim Morrison, dal suo incontro con il tastierista Ray Manzarek nei corridoi della UCLA, fino alla sua morte tragica avvenuta a Parigi nel 1971. Tom DiCillo racconta, con immagini inedite e private della band, il percorso artistico e umano del gruppo e del suo leggendario front man: il lavoro in studio di registrazione, gli incontri con i fan e i concerti, sul palco e dietro le quinte, la produzione poetica di Morrison. Non mancano i riferimenti agli eccessi di Jim Morrison e alla sua personalità complessa, ma il film è soprattutto il racconto intimo delle relazioni personali tra i quattro musicisti, che hanno dato un contributo considerevole alla storia della cultura pop. I Doors sono esistiti per soli 54 mesi, realizzando 6 album e vincendo quattro dischi d'oro consecutivi.

Abstract/Sommario: The 1940s and 1950s can be considered the heyday of the experimental art film. In that era, leading filmmakers such as Luciano Emmer, Alain Resnais, and Henri-Georges Clouzot presented the art documentary as a truly experimental genre that enabled them to combine cinematic experiments with artistic profundity. Also Belgian filmmakers such as Charles Dekeukeleire, André Cauvin, Henri Storck, Paul Haesaerts, and Luc de Heusch made important contributions to the development of the art fil ...; [Leggi tutto...] The 1940s and 1950s can be considered the heyday of the experimental art film. In that era, leading filmmakers such as Luciano Emmer, Alain Resnais, and Henri-Georges Clouzot presented the art documentary as a truly experimental genre that enabled them to combine cinematic experiments with artistic profundity. Also Belgian filmmakers such as Charles Dekeukeleire, André Cauvin, Henri Storck, Paul Haesaerts, and Luc de Heusch made important contributions to the development of the art film. While some of their films demonstrated that cinema could become a useful tool for art analysis, other focused on the representation of artists such as Picasso, Magritte, Delvaux, Alechinksky and Dotremont at work.
