Abstract/Sommario: This volume marks the 100th anniversary of Nordisk Films Kompagni - one of the oldest existing film companies in the world. It is a collection of papers presented at the Danish Film Institute at a seminar held in June 2006 and includes the material from two lectures held in November in the same year. This anthology highlights important aspects of the company throughout its existence.

Abstract/Sommario: Benjamin Christensen (1879-1959) is probably the most innovative director of Danish silent cinema. He had full control over the creation of his films, not only as a director, but also in many cases by being producer, author and protagonist. This DVD contains his first two films. These first films clearly show Benjamin Christensen's mastery of cinematic expression, as well as his charismatic screen appearance.

Abstract/Sommario: Preserve Then Show includes the papers presented at a seminar held in November 2001 at the Danish Film Institute. The occasion was the 60th anniversary of the foundation of a film museum in Denmark and the subject was preservation and restoration of motion picture films. On one hand we have the scientist speaking of preservation from the conservationist’s point of view, and the other, the film historian dealing with the philosophical details in the restoration of a single film. This anthology brings together some of the leading research that is currently being conducted on preservation and also the story of the first Danish film archive is told.
