At the same time in his village of Bil'in, the Israelis begin bulldozing village olive groves to build a barrier to separate Bil'in from the Jewish settlement Modi'in Illit. The barrier's route cuts off 60% of Bil'in farmland and the villagers resist this seizure of more of their land by the settlers. Settlers destroy Palestinian olive trees and attack Burnat when he tries to film them. The army raids the village in the middle of the night to arrest children. He, his friends, and brothers are arrested or shot; some are killed. Each camera used to document these events is shot or smashed. Eventually, in 2009, Burnat approaches Guy Davidi,[5] an Israeli filmmaker, and the two of them create the film from these five broken cameras and the stories that they represent.

Director Tim Webb’s experience as an animator led him to realise that there was a quality in some autistic children’s drawings that would lend itself to animation. In 1991 Channel 4 Television commissioned him to explore the possibility of making a short film for their ‘Disabling World’ season to give a general audience a small window into the condition of autism.
In the UK no film had ever been made about autism which included contributions from autistic people themselves. Animation appeared to offer a useful technique to combine work from a number of autistic contributors, and to engage an ordinary viewer with the experiences being recounted and portrayed within a film.

When Suharto overthrew Sukarno, the President of Indonesia, following the failed coup of the 30 September Movement in 1965, the gangsters Anwar Congo and Adi Zulkadry in Medan were promoted from selling black market movie theater tickets to leading the most powerful death squad in North Sumatra. They also extorted money from the ethnic Chinese as the price for keeping their lives. Anwar is said to have personally killed 1,000 people. Today, Anwar is revered by the right wing of a paramilitary organization, Pemuda Pancasila, that grew out of the death squads. The organization is so powerful that its leaders include government ministers who are openly involved in corruption, election rigging and clearing people from their land for developers. Invited by Oppenheimer, Anwar recounts his experiences killing for the cameras, and makes scenes depicting their memories and feelings about the killings. The scenes are produced in the style of their favorite films: gangster, Western, and musical.

Il linguaggio delle campagne di sensibilizzazione ha scoperto con un certo ritardo la componente suggestiva e spettacolare del cinema. Se prima calcava principalmente sulla forza del messaggio o sulle potenzialità estetiche del medium, da qualche tempo preferisce concentrarsi sul modello high concept del cinema hollywoodiano, quindi meno sullo shock che sulla familiarità e sul dinamismo della rappresentazione. All'incrocio ideale fra pedagogia e intrattenimento, fra Una scomoda verità e The Day After Tomorrow, si colloca la docu-fiction The Age of Stupid. A partire da una cornice narrativa da disaster movie fatta di efficaci effetti visivi low budget e suggestioni musicali fra il tragico e l'apocalittico firmate dai Radiohead, davanti agli occhi dello shakespeariano archivista Pete Postlethwait e ai nostri, scorrono le immagini di sei testimonianze di vita provenienti dai vari continenti. C'è chi è sopravvissuto da eroe all'uragano Katrina, vi è una coppia di inglesi che lottano per l'immissione di centrali eoliche nella campagna, un'anziana guida dei ghiacciai del Monte Bianco che racconta le sue esperienze, il ricco imprenditore indiano in procinto di aprire la sua terza compagnia aerea low cost, due bambini iracheni orfani di guerra fuggiti in Giordania e, infine, una giovane donna nigeriana che combatte contro fame e malattie per potersi garantire un'istruzione e diventare un medico riconosciuto.
