Abstract/Sommario: Il commendator Alberto Nardi è un uomo giovane, pieno d'iniziativa, che ha la passione dei grandi affari industriali, ma non ha la capacità necessaria a condurli con successo. Per effetto della sua pericolosa mania, Alberto si trova spesso in gravi difficoltà ed è costretto a ricorrere all'aiuto di sua moglie Elvira, donna ricchissima e saggia amministratrice della propria sostanza.

Abstract/Sommario: Léon Poirier renoue avec la terrible barraile qui opposa Français et Allemands pendant plus de dix mois. Il précise qui par rapport au film muet réalisé en 1928, il s'agit d'un nouveau film entièrement sonore et parlé. Les épisodes comme les personagges ne sont plus les memes. L'histoire est racontée par le personagge principal de l'ancien combattant, Paul Amiot.

For one thing, it doesn't attempt to apportion blame for what happened, nor does it demonize the German people. Instead, what it delivers is an authentic reconstruction of the battle of Verdun, showing the obscene folly of war without over-dramatizing it, to provide a stark plea to future generations never to go down the same path again. What is most striking about the film is its trenchant realism, which is achieved principally by use of exterior locations that were the sites where much of the fighting took place in 1916 - sites that still bore the heavy scars of conflict.
