Abstract/Sommario: The film focuses on the perpetrators of the Indonesian killings of 1965–66 in the present day; ostensibly towards the communist community where almost a million people were killed. When Suharto overthrew Sukarno, the President of Indonesia, following the failed coup of the 30 September Movement in 1965, the gangsters Anwar Congo and Adi Zulkadry in Medan were promoted from selling black market movie theater tickets to leading the most powerful death squad in North Sumatra. When Suharto overthrew Sukarno, the President of Indonesia, following the failed coup of the 30 September Movement in 1965, the gangsters Anwar Congo and Adi Zulkadry in Medan were promoted from selling black market movie theater tickets to leading the most powerful death squad in North Sumatra. They also extorted money from the ethnic Chinese as the price for keeping their lives. Anwar is said to have personally killed 1,000 people. Today, Anwar is revered by the right wing of a paramilitary organization, Pemuda Pancasila, that grew out of the death squads. The organization is so powerful that its leaders include government ministers who are openly involved in corruption, election rigging and clearing people from their land for developers. Invited by Oppenheimer, Anwar recounts his experiences killing for the cameras, and makes scenes depicting their memories and feelings about the killings. The scenes are produced in the style of their favorite films: gangster, Western, and musical.

Oltre un milione di persone finiscono trucidate nella più grande caccia al comunista di tutti i tempi. I killer di allora oggi sono anziani signori benestanti che, in questo film impressionante, fanno cinema. Ricreano e mettono in scena i loro atti criminali. Spesso, in una tragica inversione, impersonano le vittime. Il regista Joshua Oppenheimer, al suo esordio, segue il loro percorso dal compiacimento di protagonisti di una violenta giustizia politica alla riflessione sulle implicazioni, non solo morali, dell’omicidio di Stato.

INDO: Indo Pino peut aller de l’autre côté de la nuit. Elle est chamane wana sur l’île de Célèbes (Sulawesi). Victime d’une grave maladie, elle est soignée par d’autres chamanes. Tout en filmant les différents rituels de guérison, les réalisateurs entreprennent de donner à Indo Pino des médicaments français.

Il piu' giovane della famiglia si chiede come possa crescere i propri figli in una societa' in cui i sopravvissuti sono ridotti al silenzio e i carnefici trattati come eroi. In cerca della verita', l'uomo decide di incontrare gli assassini sopravvissuti e coinvolti nell'omicidio del fratello. He escapes the city and meet him who has gone through a similar problem. During their awkward reunion, they became aware of how far apart they have grown, and at the same time unfolding each others breakdowns. Rocket Rain touches on the human longing for inner peace within the shifting values of contemporary Indonesian family. Ningsih (Masayu), a waitress, tells him a killer is rumoured to be stalking women in the neighbourhood, and Djenar (Laudya Chintya Bella), who lives next door in the shabby apartment building with her young daughter Senja (Imel) and husband, also tells him she's frightened. One night in the bar, Elang sees the mysterious woman, Jingga (Imelda Therinne), and rescues her from an abusive customer. She asks to stay with him, as she's been evicted from her flat. Elang's dreams and visions become worse, including seeing Jingga hanging dead from the ceiling. She tearfully tells him that the men who raped and tortured her must die, so one night he accompanies her to face them. Elang is arrested by the police for multiple murder, despite protesting his innocence. He insists that Jingga is still alive, though she cannot be found. Detectives Yosef Laurent (Arswendi Nasution) and Arturo (Teuku Rifnu Wikana) then find the flat next door to Elang's has been empty for the past year.
